Abstract EN

The Andalusian puzzle poetry is regarded as a source of creativity for the poets of the island who have taken it as brotherly pastime and through which they showed their rich intellectual abilities and their linguistic, cultural and artistic talents.

The current study deals with the various themes and subject of this type of poetry and shows its hidden figurative and lexical meaning and the mechanism of its connotative outcome.

The study also shows that there are two techniques employed in composing such poetry.

The first technique is poetic based on figures of speech such as metaphors, artistic description and Quranic intertextuality.

The second technique is unpoetic, it is lexical based on tasheef (changing the dots of the alphabet letters), galb (changing the vowel sounds), hathef (deletion) or hiasaab (using mathematics).Puzzles formed according to this technique lose their poetic nature and become more prosaic than poetic.
