The sectarian terrorism has emerged in the Arab region during the last century, but the American occupation of Iraq in 2003; was the most violent wave especially with the emergence of the Islamic State, as the region witnessed terrorist operations against different sects, which reflected on the security of the Arab region.

So what the motives and repercussions of sectarian terrorism? In light of the assumption that the surge of sectarian terrorism in an input for regional influence, relying on the approach of the group, which is an analytical approach, the result is the spread of sectarian terrorism is based on the establishment of terrorist legitimacy for the policies adopted by regional and international powers towards the Arab region.
