Open access to information is one of the important issues in scientific communication among researchers, and this is after the widespread use of the Internet and electronic publishing.

Through this research, we will deal with free access to information in terms of what it is, its appearance factors, its advantages and disadvantages, while highlighting its most important models and tools.

We also seek, through this study, to define one of the most popular digital repository inventory tools available in the form of free access on the Internet, represented by the Free Open Access Repository Directory OpenDOAR and this is through the definition of the guide, the research methods it provides to researchers and the criteria it requires in the repositories that want to join On the one hand, and on the one hand, on the one hand, to provide an analytical reading of statistics about the directory in relation to its development, the distribution of repositories according to the countries, language and sources contained in them, in addition to the software approved in building these repositories.
