Abstract EN

This article discusses the role of oil revenues in achieving sustainable development in Algeria, focusing on the period between 1999 and 2019.

Since the end of the second millennium and Algeria's restoration of peace and stability, which coincided with a gradual rise in oil prices, the country has achieved significant revenues from hard currency, and we will discuss in this light the most important opportunities offered by this financial comfort, and how to exploit them by economic decision makers in Algeria.

The challenges of this financial abundance and their implications for the diversification of the national economy were also discussed.

Through this study, we attempted to refer to the most important characteristic of the economic management in Algeria during two decades (1999-2019), where the focus was on the major economic facilities and infrastructure, also witnessed the doubling of various forms of economic and social support for the Algerian citizen, which is This was offset by weak investment in human capital and deepening dependence on the hydrocarbon sector, despite Algeria's enormous potential, where it was unable to achieve economic diversification or reduce dependency on oil revenues.

The article concluded that it is necessary to invest in human capital, fight corruption, and support small and medium-sized investments in order to gradually free from dependence on oil revenues and build a diversified economy.
