Abstract EN

This research paper aims to highlight the impotance of generally the environmental management and the ISO 14001 certificate specifaically, in the achievement of the sustainable development, which is considered one of the highest objectives that governments want to reach.

One of the methods to achieve such objective is the orientation of the economic enterprises to apply the environmental management systems and to gain the ISO14001 certificate, since it enables them to determine their environmental activities that maximize value and to evaluate the efficacy of the procedures of making environmental policies and objectives and having the ability to cope with it; thus maintaining a constant limit of all kinds of resources, what contributes to achieving the sustainable development.
