Abstract EN

Political rumor had a prominent presence in the various phases of the conflict between Habib Bourguiba and Salah Ben Youssef.

In this paper, we attempt to highlight the impact of the spread of rumor on the course of this leadership conflict in its hidden phase.

We have sought in the first element of this paper to define the rumor, using the most prominent dictionaries, and the most important psychological and social researches interested in this phenomenon.

As for the second element, we approached the" Youssefi "and "Bourguibi" conflict in its hidden phase.

And in the third and last element, we analyzed the implications of this rumor, its causes and the most prominent repercussions.

So, What role did the rumor play in this hidden phase of the conflict? and how could Habib Bourguiba restore respect for his leadership threatened by his rival Saleh Ben Youssef?
