Abstract EN

The artisanal field in the Islamic city constitutes one of the main aspects of daily life in the medieval period that leads us to ask about the economic role played by the community of artisanal workers and its impact on the economic activity internally and externally.

To answer this question the researcher should discuss two points: - The strong presence of the artisanal workers in the Islamic city.

- The fact that artisanal field had played several important roles which reflected an important side of the general life in the urban areas.

In this spirit, this paper tries to study the economic role of the artisanal workers in Tlemcen during the « Zayyanid » period, because many studies and researches have focused on the commercial activity in Tlemcen during the period considered, neglecting some issues concerning the artisanal field, which is a necessary element to know some aspects related to the topic of our research.
