Abstract AR

The research discusses the possibility of using generative design to improve the role of existing
buildings' envelops by reshaping the original envelop or some of its elements according to the
needs of the building.

The research study the problems of existing building envelopes that the
generative design could be a part of the solution, that demand study generative design concept in
the production of new complex patterns, categorical dimensions of the envelope elements in the
digital environment, then devising possible alternatives to reshape the existing building envelope
by offering an approach to deal with the problems of buildings envelopes, includes the
relationship between enhancement objectives, envelope components, alteration and addition
strategies, then the design stages that include a list of formative alternatives to envelop elements.

Then an experimental study on an existing building.

The results proved that the efficiency of the
interior spaces of a building can be improved with the help of generative design tools.
