لعب العامة دورا هاما في العقيدة في مصر القديمة و بصفة خاصة من خلال ما عرف بإسم "العبادة الشعبية" و "التقوى الشخصية" و التى انتشرت بشكل كبير منذ عصر الدولة الحديثة فصاعدا.
ومن اهم الأماكن التى مارس فيها عامة الشعب عباداتهم مجموعة من المقاصير التى عرفت في اللغة المصرية القديمة بإسم الخنو "xnw" و التى يعتقد انها ظهرت منذ عصر الدولة الحديثة.
وهى عبارة عن مقاصير صغيرة أقيمت في الشوارع و الحارات في القرى و المدن و إستخدمها عامة الشعب في عبادتهم و إقامة شعائرهم و كانت الخنو ذات تخطيط بسيط جدا ويوضع بداخلها تمثال صغير او لوحة بصورة المعبود يتوجه اليها العامة بالعبادة و تقديم القرابين.
و من امثلة الخنو التى عرفنها من خلال النصوص او الحفائر:
*خنو الملك رمسيس الثانى.
*خنو بتاح.
*خنو امون رع.
*خنو قسرتى.
*خنو حور ام آخت.
Abstract EN
Common people played an important role in ancient Egyptian religion, especially through which is known "popular religion" and "personal piety", which had wide spread from New kingdom period onwards.
One of the important places in which common people performed their cult and did their daily rites were some chapels which is called "xnw".
The Khenow chapels were built through streets and lanes in cities and villages, it had simple plane, and contained a statue or a stela of the god who was worshiped inside it.
Through texts and excavations we knew little information about some khenow chapels such as:
*Khenow the king Ramesses II.
* Khenow Ptah.
* Khenow Amon-Re.
* Khenow Keserty.
* Khenow Horemakhet.
