The Corona pandemic (Covid-19) confirmed that epidemics have repercussions that exceed health effects known to them, and throughout history have had an impact on the policy of countries and the nature of their societies and the relations between them and their economies, according to place and time, and their impact was also evident during wars and conflicts, where it played a role in changing the scales Powers in favor of one party or parties over the other, and like other regions of the world, Algeria has witnessed many epidemics throughout its history, perhaps the most important of which was the accompanying French colonial presence, especially during the nineteenth century.

This research paper shows the various diseases and epidemics that appeared in Algeria during the period when the French occupation was trying to control the rest of the regions of Algeria, and how some epidemic periods in Algeria affected the colonial movement, whether in the affirmative or the negative, where the diseases and the attempt to treat them were justifications for the colonial presence according to some Historians, and epidemics have sometimes hindered occupation projects, especially the settlement enterprise.

This research paper shows, through colonialism, the transmission of epidemics from Europe to Algeria, its publication, and its exploitation to achieve its colonial policy based on extermination and annihilation of the Algerian people, that there is a possibility of deliberate French colonialism in transmitting epidemics and spreading them in Algeria.

We will also try to show through several examples that epidemics contributed with the colonial expansion to the extermination of a large number of the Algerian people, and the spread of misery and poverty among them, and it also greatly affected the military resistance movement that has accompanied the colonial movement since its inception in 1830.
