Abstract EN

Carl Brockelmann (1868 - 1956 AD), one of the leading orientalists, and his book (History of Arab Literature) is a landmark in the books of the history of Arab literature and bibliography.

This research has tended to study the issue of documenting Umayyad poetry through it; Because of this poetry of the need for the documentation process.

What is meant by (documentation): everything that would add poetry to the era, prove poetry to the poet in a text or a collection, or deny it from him, by various means, methods and tools.

In this research, I tried to grasp the author's approach through the judgments and opinions he proclaimed in his study of the Umayyad era poets and their poetry.

I followed the critical approach and research plan: Beginning with introducing the writer and the book.

Then: the formal curriculum, which includes a study of the era and the poets, translation of poets, and sources.

Then: Methodology of governance, which includes a study: method of criticism, documentary disagreement, correcting errors, independent judgments, and thefts.

Then the study ends with the documentation errors of Karl Brockelmann.

The research concludes with a conclusion with its most important results.
