Abstract EN

At the end of the 19th century, Algeria had witnessed the emergence of a generation of intellectual Algerian reformists, who wrote in their books and lessons about the degrading social situation in Algeria during the French colonization.

They also called for taking with the elements of the French civilization in order to overcome the tense situation in which the society was struggling.

Among the reformists who left a mark with his intellectual work is Mohamed Ben Mustafa Ben El Khoja (El Kamal), who wrote in different subjects that have a relation with heritage, education and women.

Furthermore, the French leaders saw him as the educated, committed and open-minded modal who can serve their goals through his writings, lessons and sermons.

The Algerian educated elites also saw him as the pioneer of reformation and the father of the Algerian renaissance.

However, when the writings of Ben El Khoja, specifically “The Awareness of Women Wrights” and “The Enlightenment of Minds in the Urge of Carefulness and Self-Reserve” arrived at the hands of Sheick El Bekri Ben Abderrahmane Ben El Tayeb El Twati, just before the French colonization of desert oases (Tidiklt, Twat and Gorara) in 1900, it made him after a bright reviewing of its ideas and concepts understood the purpose beyond the arrival of such writings in such difficult situation that Twat was facing.

Of course, this pushed Sheikh El Bekri to mark his notes and harsh criticism on the writings of Ben El Khoja in a script in 1898.
