Abstract EN

The study aims to present a conceptual framework on university governance, and the most important existing model of university governance at the global level, with reference to the model used in the Algerian university.

It was concluded that the application of governance at the Algerian University is somewhat close to the model that is centered on the state, with extreme centralization and weak financial and administrative autonomy in particular, and the absence of some stakeholders in decision-making.

It was recommended that universities should supervise the provision of a higher education service rather than the overall supervision of the state, ensure the independence of the university, and expand the participation of stakeholders at various levels of university decision.
