Abstract EN

This study aimed to reveal the causes of infraction of throw dumping of industrial waste (solid and liquid) to a sample of industrial institutions in the wilaya of Algiers, and to verify whether these causes are attributed to an environmental bad conscience of their managers, and their interest in material profit at the expense of environmental security.

Or that the agencies responsible for the collection and management of this waste lack a sufficient number of human and material resources, represented in particular, in skilled workforce, and in the availability of equipment intended for waste treatment.

, and the means of their management (transport, storage, treatment and burial, and Other)? Or the inability of the institution itself to pay the costs of managment and treating its waste? Or the lack of a control process, which prompted the managers of these institutions to pollute the environment with their waste? The case study method was applied in this study to a sample of six industrial institutions.

The results are as follows: - Lack of environmental awareness of the managers of industrial units - Suffering from a manifest lack of material and human resources necessary, to treat their industrial waste - and in particular special and dangerous waste -; managers throw this waste in nature space without any treatment.

- Lack of control processes practiced by the authorities concerned with environmental protection, and their lack of continuity and lack of coercion, have led to the failure of many industrial units to set up a system for processing their wastewater that is directly discharged into sewers and other canals.
