Abstract EN

This research dealt with the study of the impact of tourism on economic development in the Governorate of Dhofar during the period of the eighth five-year plan 2011-2015.

This was done through four sections.

Section One addressed the concept of tourism and types of tourism in general.

Section Two addressed the human geographical features in the Dhofar Governorate.

Section Three dealt with the general economic importance of tourism at the global level, and at the level of the Sultanate of Oman and Dhofar in particular.

, Section Five discussed the economic impact of tourism on the Governorate of Dhofar.

Finally, the researcher discussed the findings and recommendations.

It was clear to the researcher that the Dhofar Governorate has a tremendous tourism potential, which qualifies it to become a global tourist destination, but this sector has not been exploited optimally.
