Economic rationality is one of the most important starting points for decision-making, and this ensures its effectiveness by reducing costs and maximizing the returns.

The decision to privatize is of a great importance due to the effectiveness of the private sector, and this is due to its flexibility in keeping pace with the developments and this has been proven by successful global experiences.

From this standpoint, global trends towards the privatization of universities are justified, which is still limited in Algeria due to the particularity of this sector.

This indicates the problem of applying the criterion of economic rationality in the decision to privatize universities, and this is in view of the particularity of the university system, which is reflected in the risk in adopting of the privatization option.

Therefore, to what extent can the concept of economic rationalization be applied in the decision to privatize universities in Algeria?
