Poverty remains one of the biggest challenges facing the world countries today.

Thus, Mexico is one of the most countries that suffered from this phenomenon as nearly half of its inhabitants suffer from poverty.

However, by the end of the 1980s, the Mexican Government had begun to adopt social programs to combat it.

The most prominent programs was the "Opportunities” ones which was conditional cash transfers to poor families.

It had achieved great success and had managed to lift millions of people out of poverty and many States have followed this type of program for their positive results.

But, despite this programs have contributed to reduce poverty in Mexico, they have not been completely eliminated it due to a range of challenges that stand in the way.
