Abstract EN

This study aims to analyze one of the marginalized texts of classical Arabic literature, namely the letter of Abu Hayyan Al-tawhidi addressed to Al-Qadi Abi Sahl, which is a reproach to the latter about his books.

Our interest in this text is due to two main reasons; the first refers to the importance of this letter which constitutes a crucial fact in the life of A-ttawhidi, since he burned on his own his writings after the indifference of his society.

Indeed, the official institutions of the time did not appreciate its true value and they did not live up to the author's expectations.

As for the second motive, it is a question of approaching this text from a new rhetorical perspective, since the analysand will adopt a rhetorical and argumentative approach aimed at revealing the different persuasive procedures as well as the pragmatic and illocutionary techniques employed.
