Abstract EN

The Maqâmat of Al Hariri, an author of the 11th / 12th century (1054/1122), is news in which a narrator tells a story in a register certainly belonging to the literary language but using the comic style, a strategy communicative which allowed it to attract a maximum of readers.

The latter evolved in a society, in the city of Basra, where social inequalities prevailed in anIraq which was struggling to regain its balance, after the transfer of civilization to Andalusia.

Arab-Muslim society was in the midst of a social and moral crisis and a relaxation of values, as revealed by Islam.

Already, the Abbasid power was weakening more and more by the presence of Iranian Shiites and the rivalry of the Fatimids.

In this article, we will show, in a double study, how, through wacky little stories, the author found the strategic way to instill in the population, the elementary principles of morality as it was dictated by the genesis of Islam but unfortunately transgressed by society.

Morality is also to show how preaching has become a means of deceiving society and how religion is exploited for immoral and material ends.

History certainly made people smile, but the didactic scope, which it projected, and the moral which it conveyed, restored to the Maqâmat the religious educational dimension par excellence.
