In this article, we try to grasp the complexity of the religious fact, which is nowadays in force in public debate.
Our objective is to grasp its meaning and to identify its construction mechanisms.
It is a question of defining it, and then explaining its relationship with other founding notions such as language, to which religious discourse owes its continuity; tradition, which contributes in the formation of a religious identity; oral tradition attesting orally a testimony on social reality; and the myth telling the history of religions to discern the place occupied by this kind of discourse in human society.

Dans cet article, nous essayons d'appréhender la complexité du fait religieux qui s'invite aujourd'hui en force dans le débat publique.
Notre objectif est d'en saisir le sens et d'en cerner les mécanismes de construction.
Il s'agit de le définir puis d'expliciter sa relation avec d'autres notions fondatrices comme la langue, à qui le discours religieux doit sa continuité; la tradition, qui contribue dans la formation d'une identité religieuse; la tradition orale attestant de vive voix un témoignage sur une réalité sociale et exprimant le religieux; et le mythe racontant l'histoire des religions pour discerner la place qu'occupe ce genre de discours dans la société humaine.
