Abstract EN

This article aims at examining the most dominant sings used by al-Mu'tamid bin Abbad in his poem.

The analysis of the poem revealed that the most frequently used signs are: lights, tears, patience, and death.

Perhaps understanding the text is not an end in itself as it mediates the relationship of the ego with the other.

Indeed, the signs cannot be understood in isolation from its historical context or from the rest of the signs.

When analyzing these signs and using them as meaningful constructs, one realizes that they are not destructive ideas and that the sign is meant to produce meaning.

The convergence of different signs such as the sign of lights, the sign of patience, the sign of death, and the sign of tears would, therefore, constitute one story and would end in a tragic story, whose poet hero is torn between love of survival and fear of death.
