Abstract EN

This study aims at deconstructing a conceptual muddle surrounding the concept of "corporate citizenship" that results when the concept is used.

To achieve this aim, the study adopted the analytical approach commonly used in analytical philosophy, and "deconstruction of conceptual muddle".

The study concludes that the main problem of corporate citizenship is that in some literature, it is discussed from the perspective of citizenship related to obligations, while it was discussed in other literature from the perspective of rights.

While individual citizenship was defined within the relationship between the individual and his government, corporate citizenship was not specific.

The study also finds that there are other problems of corporate citizenship, including conceptual muddle related to the multiplicity of concepts used, either as similar to the concept of corporate citizenship or completely different.

The concept of corporate citizenship is problematic in relation to its advantages, disadvantages, and how it can be measured.

It is also problematic in relation to the concept global corporate citizenship, and whether corporations should be made to uphold their responsibilities through legal means or voluntary initiatives.
