French Orientalism was particularly active before and after the Napoleonic campaign on Egypt.

As a result, Egyptian scientific missions sent to France were influenced by Oriental scholars, especially Louis Massingon (1883-1962 AD), headed by the Dean of Arabic Literature, Taha Hussein.

Taha Hussein's thought appeared at the end of the first quarter of the twentieth century, as if it was an arrow that invented the virginity of inactivity with which Arab thought is protected, since then, different positions have exploded around him, which led to the emergence of contradictory readings of his idea, vision, and role in modern Arab culture.

Two types of reading were organized around him: a first reading considered a threat to the inherited system of religious, intellectual and literary values, and read it within a cultural context that has its stable sayings that have hidden behind specific religious and intellectual perceptions, and a second reading included Taha Hussein in the modernization project and considered it a symbol of enlightenment in Arab culture and thought, and read it among the categories that appeared and popularized in Europe during the eighth and nineteenth centuries, which is the era known as the Enlightenment, and it appeared ; indeed, European Orientalism flourished in its various schools.

Hence our fundamental problem that we raise in this article, to what extent was Taha Hussein affected by Orientalist thought ? Is Orientalism having intellectuals or intellectual appropriation ? What are the methodological and intellectual standards that were based on in writing, and from there received Taha Hussein's thought ? Does adherence to methodological tools mean deviating from the prevailing cultural norms and patterns ? Or is it that culturally dominant thought has the right to limit systemic tools ?
