The mid-Maghreb used to possess a long maritime Coast, caps gulf and an important continental Anchorage, in addition to its possession of many ports and moorings which were reserved to fishing.

This made it an important region for maritime fishing Although, there was a shortage of fish in the Mediterranean Sea compared with the ocean, the quantity of the fish for the mid- Maghribin people was enormous.

Their fishing varied from rivers to sea fishing throughout many rivers which contained plenty of fish, in addition to fish breeding in the lakes as well.

There the marine species range from tuna, crayfish and so on.

People used to fish in many ways and using different techniques like the trolling fishing, the trawl or nets, stones and other ways As far as cooking is concerned, the ways of cooking fish varied but kept the mid-maghribin cost region customs and traditions, besides to salting all the access of fish for preservation and storage for future use
