Causes behind the primary school pupils’ poor performance in learning English : primary school teachers’, supervisors’, and academics’ perspectives

Learning English is one of the important subjects to be developed because of its importance in the future pupils ' lives.

By acquiring the correct listening, speaking, reading and writing habits, these learners can achieve success in all other subjects required.

Because of what is indicated by the educational data that there is a weakness in the level of English language learning among the learners of this language in all stages of education, including the primary one, the researcher exerted the efforts to identify the Causes Behind the Primary School Pupils' Poor Performance in Learning English: Primary school teachers', supervisors', and academics' perspectives.

To acquire the necessary data to answer the research questions, the researcher prepared a unified questionnaire for all members of the sample.

The research sample consisted of (100) teachers, (30) supervisors and (30) academics.

The statistical treatments used were: one sample test, ANOVA and alpha Cornbrash's coefficient for measuring the stability of the study instrument.

Having processed the data statistically, the researcher has come up with certain conclusions, some of which are The cause why the teacher ranked 1st in the poor performance in learning English Language by primary school pupils is due to the limited knowledge an English language teacher has, lacking the ability to comprehend the four skills of the language and his inability to employ his already obtained educational skills.

The pupils domain ranked 2nd because of the loss of their motivation to learn English language as they tend to express English language meanings and ideas through the use of Arabic language, and most of them believe that it is hard to understand a language other than their own mother language.

Finally, the researcher has set specific recommendations regarding the problem of the study.
