Abstract EN

The aim of this study is to describe the reality of environmental communication and awareness regarding the sustained management of waste in Algeria, In order to reach the objectives of the study, the researcher conducted interviews and administered surveys and reports, and utilised them as indicators to extrapolate the methods of communication and environmental awareness of the different sectors actors, and also, to evaluate the Algerian experience.

The major results of the current study indicate that Algeria falls behind in the field of waste management and valuation.

This is due to the fact that not all mechanisms of environmental governance are being activated on the one hand.

On the other hand, the littering crisis continues to exist as an irresponsible behaviour.

This is because the same programs and campaigns have been implemented without constant awareness, and lack of motivation, follow up and update on the environmental education that goes along with the reality of the waste management in Algeria.

The pace of the training of the different sectors actors varies from one state to another.
