Abstract EN

This study is about soccer political chants discourse in Algeria.

Following its traceability from stadiums to social media networks to Hirak squares, soccer political chants are introduced as an artistic mechanism of resistance against both formal discourse and formal public sphere, and so a mechanism that creates, by its turn, an alternative discourse and an alternative public sphere.

The study arises from the critical discourse analysis of three soccer political songs chosen in non probabilistic sample method.

The analysis is built on three basic levels, structural, semantically functional, and contextual.

Results reveal political soccer songs discourse themes, syntax and construction, speaker and audience involvement, and representations and identities included.
