Abstract EN

Many World Universities Rankings are interested in evaluation higher education institutions.

Among them perhaps is the Spanish Webometrics, which depends on electronic web sites.

This study is intended to define Webometrics and its methodology and the criteria it uses to rank universities worldwide.

Likewise, it seeks to know about the local, national and international standing of Algerian universities.

It goes without ignoring proposing some solutions, which may improve Algerian Universities Rankings.

The study concludes witch focusing on the shortcomings of the Algerian Universities in maintaining criteria concerning such rankings especially what concerns electronic presence of universities through highlighting the scientific production on the official web sites of universities and the promotion of social networks concerned with scientific production and publication in the different international scientific journals.
