The phenomenon of military coups has been constantly reflected on the development of the process of feminist political empowerment in the state of Mauritania, and this is due to the lack of constitutional institutions resulting from the fall of civil rule and the installation of military rule in its place, and the participation of Mauritanian women in the political process during certain stages ranged between lack and Weakness as a result of disrupting the political participation process as a whole or partially enabling it in order to overcome the severity of the legitimacy and legitimacy crisis by the ruling regime after the seizure of power.

And the military coups were not the only reason that hindered women's political empowerment in this country, but a number of other factors also contributed to this, such as the political formation, cultural heritage, ethnic and tribal composition of Mauritanian society.
