The objective of this study is to determine the level of job performance for agricultural employees who worker in the agricultural extension sector located in the Iraqi central and southern provinces.

Also، it aims to identify the factors affecting the functionality improvement of the same employees.

To meet the study objectives، the researcher conducted a questionnaire included a five level scale to measure the level of performance، and to measure the factors affecting the functionality.

The questionnaire that was used to measure the level of performance had 30 items which was distributed on 3 sections while the questionnaire that used to measure improving job functionality was reached to (104) items distributed among 16 major hub within (5) main areas.

The study included eight provinces of the Iraqi central region which is (Anbar، Salahuddin، Diyala، Baghdad، Babil، Karbala، Najaf، Wasit).

However، Anbar and Salahuddin had been excluded because of the bad security situation.

Therefore، the study was confined to the research community (6) provinces.

Furthermore، the study included five provinces of the Iraqi southern region which is (Qadisiyah، Muthanna، Dhi Qar، Maysan، Basra).

Random sample was pulled (50%) of those provinces to be the search area.

The sample included the provinces of the central region (Babil، Karbala، Najaf) and the provinces of the southern region (Qadisiyah، Muthanna، Basra).

From the search area، Random sample was pulled (50%) of both the extension units which belong to the agricultural extension sections، and extension field which belong to the extension centers.

Then، random sample was pulled 50% of agricultural employees in the agricultural extension sector within the extension units to be the sample for research.

The study shows.

suggested that to enhance the functionality of the agricultural employees، the factors affecting the performance improvement has to be considered including the factor of job satisfaction scoring (4.64) degree of importance، then modern communication technologies factor scoring (4.49)، followed by the degree of job training factor (4.45) and then the degree of organizational climate factor (4.40)، and finally the degree of management factor (4.39).

The scale that has been used was range between (1- 5).

Search recommends the placement of agricultural extension graduates to work in the extension domain.

As well as providing the agricultural extension system with higher education staff، or grant opportunity for extension workers to complete their higher education in the specialty of agricultural extension in coordination with the faculties of agriculture in Iraq's universities by increasing academic seats for agricultural employees.

Search also recommends not assigning agricultural employees in the agricultural extension system with administrative tasks، and directing them to work only extension sector.

In addition، it recommends taking care of the laws of incentives and rewards and the justice in giving them according to the efficiency، and creating an atmosphere of job satisfaction for employees through attention in staircase salaries and grants some provisions.

Furthermore، it is needed to include the staff of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Department of Agricultural Extension and Training in internal and external training courses for all staff to ensure that employees keep up with recent developments in their field to maintain a high level of functionality
