Abstract EN

Wadi Hajar, Hadramout province is one of the most important wadeis of Yemen, which is characterized by permanently flowing waters throughout the year and ends to the sea.

Therefore, the study focused at the most important characteristics of this valley that can contribute to proper management of water resources for provision waters for agriculture sector and drinking water for wadi's residents.

The study was aimed mainly to build a preliminary database of hydrological and morphometric characteristics of Wadi Hajar using Digital Elevation Model as the main input data in geographic information systems that produced digital results may serve as basis to the understanding of some of the characteristics of the valley.

The study also recommended the need to take advantage of a lot of digital data available free of charge for scientific research purposes in similar studies in other parts of the country.

Integration of these data with GIS techniques can reduce a lot of effort, time and cost.
