Abstract EN

The present study aimed to explore the opinions of critics during ancient ages about writing poetry.

It aimed to shed a light on such opinions.

It aimed to shed a light on issues that are closely related to such opinions.

Such issues include: debate on printing poetry, writing poetry as a profession, and assessment of creativity in writing poetry.

The researcher examined and analysed these issues.

The present study targets the third and fourth centuries AH.

It sheds a light on the works of Ibn Qutaiba (3rd century AH) and Ibn Tabataba (4th century AH).

It identifies the relationship between the stand of those authors and the dominant cultural context and civilization of each century.

The opinions of those authors weren’t issued in an unsystematic manner.

In fact, they reflect the stand of those authors on the aspects of their cultural context and civilization.

The stand of those authors on this criticism-related case reflects the dominant intellectual trends during the third and fourth centuries AH
