Abstract EN

The aim of this study is to highlight the role of quality assurance units in institutions of higher education through presenting a model of quality unit at Qassidi Merbah university, Ouargla, which attempts to apply the standards stipulated by the National Quality Reference.

Therefore, the study demonstrated several results, the application of National Quality Standards was the most significant, which confirms that the quality unit at the University of Ouargla strives to ensure the application of these standards, in addition, the unit members are extremely aware on the importance of these standards in improving the performance of the University of Ouargla generally and the Faculty of Economics particularly.

Yet there are some deficiencies and obstacles that prevented both, the application of several standards and the difficulty of evaluation, Thus this study presented a set of recommendations, the most significant is that the focus must be on the application of international standards in quality assurance, which are used in the evaluation process by international bodies and sites to classify universities and ensure their application.
