Abstract EN

This study aims to reveal the symbols of digital religiosity through the performance of women's virtual identity via Facebook.

Through a mixed method approach the questionnaire and focus groups discussion were mixed to reach Algerian women's attitudes toward the symbols of digital religiosity which is existing in the virtual space.

A total of 550 Algerian women were involved in the study by responding to an electronic questionnaire and 12 women participated for a focus group discussion, The study focuses on the existence of Islam on the Internet or what is called digital Islam, which is related to the presentation of Islamic religion, correcting misconceptions and the online practice of religion in addition to provide the Muslim person's virtual identity image.

The study revealed that the majority of respondents agreed to a low degree on the proposed religious commitment symbols through the construction virtual identity.
