The term addiction has been used since ancient times, and the Greeks referred to servant and slavery because of their loss of independence and freedom, and this term in the Middle Ages was expressing the position of the debtor who could not pay debts, and later, in English, in the fourteenth century, the term was used Dependency to designate the contractual relationship between the novice and his master, this term has been used in the English language in recent years as the equivalent of the word dependency and even drug addiction, etc.

, thanks to the definition of addiction concept and its enrichment to scientists and researchers, doctors in mental, physical, and mental health.

We have discussed in this article to define the concept of addiction and dependency, and the meaning of addiction according to (ICD-10) and DSM-5), the advantages and characteristics of addiction, and finally we touched on some of its types.
