Since its establishment in Algeria, the colonial administration has taken into consideration a number of aspects of Algerian society to explore its surroundings and understand its social and cultural specificities in order to penetrate it.

It is based on the studies produced by the military anthropology of a number of officers, Which was manifested in the scientific exploration projects of Algeria and the monographs of the various regions.

In this context, emphasis was placed on tribal structures and economic resources, with the aim of investing them in the containment and assimilation of Algerian society and the service of the colonial project.
