Abstract EN

This article deals with the subject of civilizational change in Roger Garaudy's thought, a philosopher whose intellectual and activist life witnessed a lot of turns from Christianity to Marxism and then to Islam.

However, those turns of his life did not affect the unity of his intellectual project.

This later has two aspects.

The first aspect is the critical aspect, where he criticized the Western civilization of being a materialistic and inhuman model, and thus bearing the seeds of its disintegration.

Moreover, as this model has become the dominant over contemporary civilization, because of globalization, it will cause, as Garaudy says, suicide of our planet.

Therefore, there is an inevitable and urgent need for civilizational change.

The second aspect of Garaudy's project is the structural aspect.

That is the alternative civilizational project, which is capable of saving contemporary civilization.
