Abstract EN

The exchange policy is in the center of the debate of the economic policy in most countries.

Therefore the object of this article is to analyze the evolution of the exchange rate regime in Algeria and the way that the exchange policy has been managed and conducted by the Bank of Algeria from the independence to 2018.

The main results we have achieved in this study show that the objective of the exchange policy in Algeria is the stabilization of the real effective exchange rate of the Algerian dinar at its equilibrium value, and this since 1995.

And the aim of this stabilization is the stimulation of local and foreign investments, and also, exports encouragement by the reinforcement of the foreign competition.
