Abstract EN

This article deals with the relationship between power and civil society in Algeria.

With the start of independence, the authority in place made civil society one organ among others through which it wanted to ensure control of society by mobilizing broad social layers in order to carry out development plans.

From there, the idea of the independence of civil organizations was excluded and was treated as part of power or as an extension of it.

However, the situation changed after the events of October 1988.

Since then, civil society organizations have moved away from power circles and have called for respect for certain concepts such as democracy, human rights and freedom of speech.
