Abstract EN

Summary: This study aims to identify how the university youth audience used the religious pages in the Algerian daily newspapers and their gratifications.

This descriptive study was based on a survey method and questionnaire form as a tool to collect data from a purposive sample of 79 students from the Department of Mission and Information at Emir Abd-el-Kader University.

The results of this study indicated that most of the respondents read the religious pages of one daily newspaper, sometimes only, and for an indefinite time and selectively, most of them prefer to read topics that concern education and ethics, worship and those that discuss current issues and fatwa's, motivated by the development of their religious culture and love of knowledge and keep abreast of modern issues.

As for the top gratifications achieved are; keeping abreast of the current Islamic issues, and the acquisition of positive social behaviors.

On the whole, most of them see that these pages do not meet their needs often, so they prefer other religious media.
