Abstract EN

The present study attempts to uncover the impact of the Egyptian public's dependency on the Ministry of Health official Facebook pages as a source of information during the Covid-19 pandemic in terms of the Media Dependency theory, and determine the communication strategies that the Ministry of Health employed in these platforms to communicate with the public.

The Media Dependency Theory and Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication Model (CERC) are adopted throughout the study.

The study was based on the online survey as a tool for collecting study data, N= 376 individuals, and the content analysis of 263 Post on the pages of the sample study, and its results were: The high rates of dependence on Facebook as a source of information, and positive evaluation towards the pages of the Ministry of Health, in addition to Pages focused on strategies of (Uncertainty Reduction), (Efficacy), as opposed to poor interest and less focus on (Risk Message Strategy), (Warning Strategy).
