Abstract EN

This research investigates the scenes in which the deities touch the king's elbow with the hand and embrace the king with the other hand, on the walls of temples, chapels and cemeteries alike, since its beginning in the time of King Sneferu the head of the fourth dynasty until the end of the New Kingdom where the significance after this historical period has the same details and connotations.

The aim of this research is to study these scenes and their details to know their function and significance.

It is clear that the depiction of the king with the deity expresses a religious ritual, so the moment, where the king meets the deity in these scenes expresses the idea of the king's sonship of the deity and in this capacity the king rules on behalf of the deity, and thus this ritual carries a lot of important and significance: is considered an important and significant one, especially when it is related to kingship.

It grants and consolidates its authority to rulers, especially in the scenes of the temple.

As for depicting these scenes in the tombs, it bears the connotations of rebirth and resurrection of the deceased king and his rebirth by depicting the deceased king with the gods and goddesses of the cemetery, motherhood and the other world so that the deceased king may be born again in the other world.
