Abstract EN

The aim of the research is to study the efficiency of drainage projects in Diyala Governorate.

A total of 16 samples were collected and analyzed and (16) samples of nearby soil including eight different sites.

The samples were taken in two groups, the first in January 2018 and the second in July 2018.

The results of the chemical analysis show that there is spatial and temporal variation between these sites.

The percentage of EC in the soil of some sites decreased to (1.1) mm / cm in July from (1.8) mm / cm in January due to the efficiency of the drainage network due to the low density, depth, and slope of the plants and their maintenance.

And increased in other locations to reach (3.6) mm / cm in July after it was (2, 3) mmol/cm in January for the low efficiency of the drainage.

The study showed that the water drainage system is of great importance due to the nature of the area which is characterized by a low slope and the presence of irrigation projects, and this is related to the depth of the distance and the distance between one place and another.

It has been found that the secondary and secondary drains have been settled or cut and converted to roads or agricultural land, which has caused an imbalance in the environment and raise the amount of salinity in the soil and make it unsuitable for agriculture.
