Sibawayh is the true founder of the theory of the function, though his teacher Al-Khalil was the first to link function with expression.

However, Sibawayh motivations in function are purely linguistic motives aimed at unifying the phenomenon of syntax in names and actions.

The one who is examining the thinking of Ibn Abi Rabee 's opinion finds him to be in agreement with Sibawayhs views concerning function, and in contrast to other Grammarians, in order to prove it to him, and to understand the book, and to understand it deeply and claims that Ibn Abi Al-Rabee was distinguished from others of ex-grammarians, or later in understanding the theory of function for Sibawayh.

In this context, the research was brief, "with examples that show what the researchers say, not excessive and non-negligent, " relying on the basic grammatical books.
