Abstract EN

Effectiveness of adenosine deaminase (ADA) was determined in the serum of pregnant women with toxoplasmosis caused by toxoplasma.

The study was performed on 154 serum samples of pregnant women suspected of developing the disease, as well as 31 serum samples of pregnant women who were not infected .The infection was determined by using LAT for chronic infection (IgG) and ELISA for acute IgM.

The results of the current study showed a total infection rate of 53.9% divided into 45.5% chronic infection and 8.4% acute infection .The efficacy of the enzyme was determined according to the method (Guisti,1974),which was estimated by nanoomol from adenosine removed from the amino acid per minute per mg protein.

The results showed that the specific efficacy of the enzyme was significantly higher in women with acute infection (p <0.05),which was (26.267 ± 0.7875), compared to the women who had a chronic infection with (25.629 ±0.3982), as well as the efficacy of the enzyme in women who were not infected (12.290 ±0.383).
