The study aimed to test the relationship between the rates of unemployment and poverty in Algeria during the period 1985 - 2016, To achieve this goal, the annual data for both unemployment and poverty variables in Algeria, Based on the methodology of joint integration and estimation of the relationship in the long term as well as the study of the causal relationship between the two variables, the study reached the following results: That there is a positive relationship and positive impact exercised by unemployment rates on poverty rates over the long term and this is consistent with the results of the test of causation, Where the results of the causal study showed an opposite causal relationship between the rates of poverty and unemployment
