The infant mortality rate is considered one of the important indicators indicating the health status of the population, and the study seeks to monitor the reality of infant mortality in the Nile Basin countries, the distribution of death rates in the Nile Basin countries, the most important economic and social factors affecting infant mortality, and the identification of the most favored countries, while suggesting recommendations That helps reduce infant mortality rates.

The importance of the study stems from what infant mortality represents in terms of a reflection of many of the prevailing social and economic patterns in any society, in addition to the lack of studies in general on the issue of infant mortality, especially in Nile Basin countries.

The study followed the historical approach, the regional approach, in addition to the descriptive and analytical method, and the cartographic method by using the Geographical Information Systems (G.

) program, in addition to several statistical methods.

The study found a multiplicity of factors affecting infant mortality, as well as the apparent spatial variation in the distribution of rates, and the study came out with several recommendations for each country of the basin.
