Abstract EN
On the opposite side of child's innocence, a criminal world based on organ trade surrounds them and exploits their vulnerability and hard conditions.
It is worth to note that the international community has known constant development in the field of childhood and children's rights; yet, international laws prohibiting violence against children did not appear until the twentieth century.
At the beginning, these laws focused on fighting slavery and slavery-like practices since it is the traditional form of human trafficking, however, this issue has developed as the international human rights law regarding child's rights issues has evolved.
Lately, this phenomenon becomes an important concern which needs immediate solutions.
Indeed, the convention on the rights of the child has been signed in 1989, it becomes recently among the major concerns of the United Nations institutions who aim to promote their protection by signing its optional protocols.
As a result, a need for a broader understanding encompassing other forms of human trafficking has emerged given that the phenomenon of child trafficking spreads across countries mainly with the proliferation of criminal organizations across international borders whose aim is to exploit them in forced labour or sexual purposes or in organ trade.
It is obvious that these images are a violation for the human dignity what to say when the victims are children.
Thus, this article aims to evaluate the efficiency of the United Nations in fighting and preventing the phenomenon of child trafficking.
