The research aims to read a long-term future of the expected imbalance of the water balance in Basra and try to assess the expected gap in the demand for water for domestic uses and then bridged it to modify the water balance of the demand for this water, as an alternative to depletion and less polluted than conventional water, sea water on the Iraqi coast.

The research has reviewed the types of commercial techniques available in the desalination industry of salt water and has tested the best and most suitable for establishing on the Iraqi coast under appropriate conditions consistent with the factors of human and natural settlemen.

The research also emphasizes on the need to deal with water as economic commodities in the future in a suitable investment environment involving the government and the private sector to obtain better management and production efficiency and within a competitive monopoly market.

Then the step towards the use of renewable fuels and then the atomic provided that all desalination plants subject to strict environmental laws in accordance with international standards.
