All kinds of minorities are subject to serious violations of their individual and collective rights in several countries around the world, but the talk about religious minorities is dictated by the large number of armed conflicts and political unrest to which this category is both a party and a victim, due to its exposure to various forms of oppression by the regime political in collusion with extremist groups belonging to the religious majority.

Faced of this situation, secularism is considered by many to be a serious option for solving the problems of religious minorities, particularly in countries where religious diversity is great.

Despite criticism of the secular option, Secularism, by taking off holiness from the things of nature and religion itself, is an urgent necessity for the protection of religious minorities, and an effective means of enforcing intellectual consensus and achieving equality among the various religious groups constituting the state, not to mention that it is an important mechanism to prevent totalitarian regimes from using religion as cover to violate the civil and political rights of minorities.
